Authors: Expert Group on Research Services and Outreach
Date: July 2023
Resource Summary
Why have we selected it?
In 2020, the Expert Group on Research Services and Outreach (EGRSO) conducted a survey to comprehend different archival institutions access and outreach-related concerns. However, a lot has changed since then, mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so they are launching an updated survey to have a better idea of what access and outreach-related concerns archival institutions have post-pandemic.
What will you find in this resource?
This resource is a survey with 17 questions, available in English, French and Spanish. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
It begins with some demographic questions, and then proceeds to ask about ICA’s Universal Declaration on Archives (UDA). It then begins to ask questions to better understand which outreach methods or strategies have become more significant as a result of the pandemic, along with outreach methods that the user would like to learn more about. It also asks about any current research they are aware of that is focused on promoting access to archives, as well as innovations or technological approaches concerning access that they are aware of. Users are asked to rank the technologies they believe are useful in promoting access to archives. The next section asks about activities related to improving and enhancing access to indigenous records. The final survey questions ask about challenges that the user has experienced concerning access and use of archives, as well as any ideas or concerns related to promoting and facilitating access and use of archives that they think EGRSO should take into consideration for their planned initiatives.
The deadline to complete the survey is 20 August 2023. Don’t hesitate to contact Nampombe Saurombe (mnkennp@unisa.ac.za) or Maria Castrillo (MCastrillo@iwm.org.uk), if you have any further questions about this survey.
