The International Council on Archives is thrilled to announce the first Virtual Archival Olympics, organized by the ICA Section on Sport Archives (ICA/SPO)! This exciting event invites all archivists and records managers to showcase their skills and creativity through a series of fun challenges. The categories selected for this competition reflect some of the core aspects of archival work, allowing you to demonstrate the unique skills that archivists use every day to preserve, organize, and share information.
To participate, post your videos on your Instagram or X/Twitter account using the hashtag #ArchivalOlympics2024. Videos should be between 30 seconds and 1 minute long. You may present your videos in your own language, but please include a description in one of the ICA’s official languages: English, French, or Spanish. Don’t forget to tag the ICA Instagram account or the X account so we can share your entry with our community!

Awards and Recognition:
The winners will be announced at the IV International Seminar on Sports Archives, scheduled for 30 September 2024. Each category will have a winner who will be awarded an online certificate by the ICA/SPO. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain recognition for your work and to inspire others in the archival community.

About ICA/SPO?
2024 will be a year in which the focus will be on the ICA/SPO and the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris! Indeed, this year marks the 20th anniversary of this section, which was founded during the ICA Congress in Vienna. The mission of the ICA/SPO is the preservation and safeguarding of sports archives worldwide. To achieve its goals, the Section organises seminars and workshops to increase information about sports archives, cooperates with institutions, sports research organisations and authorities, and disseminates information through publications and its own website.
