The ICA Expert Group in Photographic and Audiovisual Records (PAAG) is a group of specialist archivists dedicated to the exchange of photographic and audiovisual archiving practices. Members of the group work together to develop general frameworks and to create educational resources within and for the archivist community that meet its needs.
The group aims to:
- Establish basic guidelines for the archival treatment of photographic and audiovisual collections.
- Provide archivists with practical tools for tasks such as appraisal, description, conservation and digitisation.
- Promote training activities to address the specificities of photographic and audiovisual archiving.
- Create and maintain an online hub for communication and resource sharing.
- Raise awareness within the archival community of the importance of the challenges, responsibilities and opportunities inherent in managing photographic and audiovisual records.
