The ICA Africa Programme invites leaders in records and archives management in Africa to this second virtual webinar on ISO Standards for Digital Record Keeping (DRK). In the global village that is the digital evolution, ISO standards provide a strong basis for the development of DRK systems that are consistent and robust, anchored on best-practices and interoperable across boundaries. Standards improve the quality, safety and compatibility of products and services.

Knowledge of existing ISO standards for DRK is essential to guide records management practitioners in implementing digital records management solutions that are quality, safe, universal and compatible in the digital ecosystem.

This session will be facilitated by Michelle Tolliday, Chair of the Technical Committee ISO/TC46/SC11 on Archives and Records Management of the International Organization for Standardization ISO. Tolliday, an Information Management Specialist for the Victorian Public Sector, has had a diverse career with a strong focus on Information Management. After earning a Bachelor’s and Honours Degree in Biochemistry, she lived in Germany for several years, working as a business language trainer with large multinational corporations. Returning to Australia in 2003, she completed a Master’s Degree in Information Management and Systems at Monash University under Judith Ellis, during which her passion for championing public sector accountability through improved information management began to grow. Shortly after starting her Master’s, Michelle joined the Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) to manage its statewide Education and Training program and, in 2008, moved to the Victorian Auditor General’s Office (VAGO) to manage State performance audits. Her work at VAGO has highlighted the central role information management plays in transparent and accountable government, including audits on Maintaining the Integrity and Confidentiality of Personal Information, State Trustees Limited: Management of Represented Persons, Access to Public Sector Information, and Managing Public Sector Records.

Please join us and let’s discuss together how we can advance the course of our profession in Africa!
